Super Sunday Response

Dear Mr. Welker,

Today I am reading Birds of Florida. I made the following prediction about the Golden Eagle: The Golden Eagle has its golden color so that it can blend in with sand and capture its prey easily.

While I was reading I raised a few questions. One of my questions was Why is the Golden Eagle similar to the Bald Eagle? I found some facts that support their similarities. They are both juvenile birds and the female birds are bigger than the male birds (Bald and Gold Eagles).

I had a clarification to make as I read the story. I wanted to clarify the word incubation. This word means a waiting period for something to happen or develop. I thought it was very interesting to follow and observe the waiting period (43 to 45 days)for a baby Golden Eagle to be born.

Some more interesting facts are that the baby Eagle has to wait 73 to 75 days before its first flight. Also the Golden swoops down at 70 to 120 miles per to hour to catch its prey.

IT WAS A BLAST TO READ ABOUT THE GOLDEN EAGLE

  1. Adam,

Nice job responding to a nonfiction story in your blog. This is your first time and you did a great job! I like how you asked a comparison question about the Golden Eagle and the Bald Eagle. That is a good reading skill!
